How to decorate a nursery in a rental
Decorating a Pinterest worthy nursery can be a daunting project for anyone, but in a rental it adds another level of complexity. Here are three examples of nursery projects from our customers using removable wallpaper you could do in any home!
Wild for Liam
Here's a whimsical jungle nursery that I'd consider moving into myself. I love the brown wood with the green leaves. A brown wood tone with that Big Banana leaf wallpaper is like peanut butter and jelly — a pair made to last. To keep things moody (and sleepy!), this syle-wise mom added an adjacent navy accent wall. The menagerie of wall art adds to the luscious, jungle explorer effect.
For renters, keep the underlying white walls and use Command Strips instead of nailing holes in the wall. The peel and stick wallpaper will go on and off like a dream, and will hold a Command Strip as well. Voila! A renter's dream nursery that's as easy to take down as it is to put up.
Night time forest friends for Tristan
This is another fun share from one of our inspiring customers. (Seriously, we have the best customers ever...I learn so much from you every day!) This bright modern crib absolutely pops against the navy wallpaper. While the wallpaper is full of fun (deer, foxes, bunnies and squirrels!), the color palette keeps it from being TOO bold and wild for a nursery. After all, we do want our babies to actually sleep in the room...someday! A simple custom sign and mini wall tapestry put the finishing touches on this perfect scene. Again, the wallpaper is completely removable so no worries about taking it down when it's time to turn in the key. I'm loving the small sheepskin rug for some added texture (and baby will love it, too!).
Enchanted woodland for baby Rob
Gah! I can't handle the cuteness. This light and airy nursery is truly magazine worthy. Mom Whitney pulls it together with white walls, an unexpected light fixture, and a soft tree wallpaper that gives lots of texture. She's also replaced the curtains and curtain rod (totally do-able in a rental...just save what you take down). Also remember you can ask your landlord about switching out light fixtures or fans. As long as you save the existing pieces and put them back when you leave, most don't mind.
Don't let "it's a rental" dampen your style vision. Add rugs, use peel and stick wallpaper, change light fixtures and curtains, and remember — Command Strips are your friend. :)
Bravo to all the creative moms out there who are making magic happen every day.
